SINGAPORE: Porsche Asia Pacific is kicking off celebrations for “70 years of the Porsche sports car” with a special cinema trailer entitled “The Gift of Time”.

The short film has an unconventional twist: it gives 70 seconds of airtime to cinema audiences here to connect with family and friends, highlighting how precious time can be in our packed daily schedules.

Aired for the first time on Feb 22, mobile phone screens lit up the darkness of the cinema halls as heartfelt messages were sent from audiences to their loved ones. The 70 seconds of airtime also spurred families to grasp the moment to exchange hugs and reconnect in the comfort of each other’s company. Feb 22 is no ordinary date in the traditional Chinese calendar, but significant as “Renri” in the Chinese language, or “People’s Birthday”.

Highlighting Porsche’s 70th anniversary theme of “Sportscar Together”, “The Gift of Time” is a reminder that the greatest moments in our lives are the ones we share with those we love.

As expected, Porsche is using the occasion to promote itself as it tells of its illustrious history from 1948 when it started to compete in motorsports with the Porsche 356.

In 1967, Porsche posted its first overall victory at the one-thousand-kilometre race on the Nürburgring, marking its dominance in the internationally renowned racing track.

In 2017, Porsche did it again to the tune of an incredible 6:47.25 run in the 911 GT2 RS, which set the world record for the fastest production car to lap the Nürburgring.

Today, Porsche offers five model lines and is one of the most profitable sports car manufacturers in the world, anticipating the arrival of “Mission E”, its first full-electric sports car.
