Porsche recalls 911 supercar over loose screw

STUTTGART: Porsche is recalling nearly 100 of its 911 GT3 high-performance sports cars because of a potentially loose screw.

The recall was started in the United States together with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Porsche said the seat belt anchorages of the 2022 model Porsche 911 GT3 may not have been fastened correctly. If the screw comes out during an accident, injury may occur.

In other cases, the loose screw could cause a squeaking noise. A check and repair will be carried ou a Porsche dealerships.

The carmaker said the fault was caused by a manufacturing gremlin which has since been addressed.

The GT3 is designed excite drivers on the world's most challenging race course, but is as easy to live with as the regular 911 when driven on city streets.

Prices for the car in the US start at around US$170,000 (RM808,000), but ordering a few extras will easily push the final bill beyond US$200,000 (RM950,000).

Currently, only 15 vehicles are affected in the US and around 20 vehicles in Germany. The recall affects almost 100 vehicles worldwide.
