STUTTGART: In case you hadn't noticed, SUVs are booming. But of the many makers spinning out SUV after SUV, few can match Porsche for athleticism.

Porsche is now closing the last gap in its Macan model range and once again launching the SUV as a high-performing GTS.

For €77,880 (RM351,000) in Europe, you get Porsche's beefiest Macan with a 2.9-litre V6 biturbo and 380hp — 20hp more than its predecessor and 26hp more than the current Macan S.

The Macan GTS can sprint from 0 to 100kph in 4.7 seconds before hitting a top speed of 261kph, Porsche says. The GTS swallows an average of 9.5 litres per 100 km and spits out CO2 emissions of 215 g/km.

As always with the GTS models, Porsche does not stop at engine tuning. The SUV has been lowered by 15mm and given a more sportsy setup with the dual clutch transmission.
