STUTTGART: Porsche is revamping the Panamera with a visual makeover, technical upgrades and, above all, new engines.

According to the manufacturer, the new sports sedan will arrive in Europe in mid-October, where prices for the unchanged 2.9 litre V6 petrol engine with 330 hp and rear-wheel drive will start at 91,345 euros.

The three versions Standard, Executive (with an extended wheelbase) and Sport Turismo (with a steep tailgate) can be recognis ed from the outside only by new aprons and headlights and inside mainly by a different steering wheel.

According to Porsche, however, there is a lot going on under the bonnet: The previous top model is being transformed from a Turbo to a Turbo S, with an increase in output of more than 10 per cent. It now generates a horsepower of 630hp from a 4.0-litre V8 engine.

This means that in the best-case scenario, it accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 3.1 seconds and reaches up to 315kph. Porsche puts consumption as 10.7 litres (245 g/km CO2).

The Panamera GTS is also getting more muscle and will be listed in the future with 480 hp instead of 460hp.

At the same time, Porsche is expanding its range of plug-in hybrids and now also offers a Turbo 4S E-Hybrid with a system output of 560 hp.

Because the battery capacity has also been increased, Porsche promises up to 30-per-cent greater range in pure electric mode for all three part-time electric vehicles in the Panamera family. The newcomer, which can reach speeds of up to 298kph, has a range of up to 64 kilometres.
