Posaidon E63 RS850+ is a demon on wheels

BERLIN: German tuner Posaidon has tweaked a Mercedes-AMG 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8 engine to push out a massive amount of power - try 1,020hp and 1,400Nm of torque for its E63 RS850+, with the company saying that it's the most powerful street-legal Mercedes...ever.

Based on a Mercedes-AMG E63 4Matic sedan, the company's engineers threw out almost everything and dumped in a stronger gearbox, larger turbos, more efficient intercoolers, a custom carbon-fibre encased intake system with a large free-flow conical air filter and colder competition spark plugs.

Lastly, a handmade turbo-back exhaust system with valve control, specially calibrated limited slip differentials for the front and rear axles and a remapped ECU round off the list of upgrades.

But, the company's engineers went further and got rid of the rear bench, rear door trims, replaced the front seats with race-style lightweight ones from the C63 AMG Black Series model for the cabin.

Externally, the factory grille gets replaced with wire mesh before getting slapped with carbon-fibre parts for the bonnet, front bumper, rear diffuser, spoiler, mirror caps and tailpipe trims for a total weight savings of 40kg.

Last but not least, the company also applied their Blitzer update to the Comand system.

While sitting on an uprated fully-adjustable coil-over suspension system, this two-seater with four doors gets to 100kph from standstill in 2.8 seconds before reaching a theoretical top speed of 368kph that's been electronically-limited to 350kph.

This is to prevent the 255/30 (front) and 295/25 (rear) Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres from disintegrating off the exclusive 20-inch ADV.1 alloy wheels.

For deceleration purposes, the tuner has fitted 420mm (front) and 360mm (rear) carbon-ceramic disc brakes with six-piston (front) and four-piston (rear) callipers to do the biting.

There's no mention of cost for this ruffian of a Mercedes, but we'd dare bet a very pretty penny that it'll require an atrocious amount of money to own one.
