SUBANG JAYA: The Malaysia Book of Records has awarded Proton with the ‘Most People In An MPV’ record.

The latest record breaking feat was with a seven-seater Proton Exora multi-purpose vehicle during the 'Ace The Space Challenge', where 55 members of team Girls Power from Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UNIMAP) managed to squeeze themselves into the MPV.

The record was officially presented to the local carmaker during a ceremony at Sunway Velocity Mall on Sept 28, by the Minister of Communications and Multimedia YB Gobind Singh Deo.

This has reset the bar from the the previous record of 41 people in a Proton vehicle that was set during the preliminary rounds of the competition.

Members of the public were invited to experience the challenge by getting as many people as possible inside the same vehicle.

“With 55 people in the MPV, this shows the quality and strength of the Exora that rises to every occasion,” said Proton Edar chief executive officer Abdul Rashid Musa.

PROTON, as part of the MBR Live! roadshow, gave Malaysians a chance to enter the record books during the event, which was held at Sunway Velocity Mall in Cheras from Sept 28 to 30.

'MBR Live!' was the first roadshow organised by the Malaysia Book of Records, in conjunction with the Merdeka and Malaysia day month and was was launched by YB Gobind Singh Deo.

The newest entry will spur the company towards adding yet more records to its name including an attempt to enter the Guinness Book of World Records.
