SHAH ALAM: Proton has broken a 17-year-old record in the Malaysia Book of Records for “Most People in an MPV” with 55 people in the Proton Exora.

The record was set by Team Girls Power from Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UNIMAP) which won RM10,000.

Each team member won a Proton sales voucher worth RM1,000 as well as a smartphone, two TGV movie tickets and an invite to the launching ceremony of the new Proton SUV later this year.

The new record was recently set in the final round of Proton's Ace The Space contest, held at the Proton Centre of Excellence in Subang Jaya.

The other competing teams in the final round included all-female teams from Kolej Vokasional Temerloh and Politeknik Port Dickson, and each team managed to squeeze 53 people in the Exora.

An all-male team from UiTM Shah Alam also did well by squeezing 45 people in the Exora.

In the first round held earlier this year from May till July , teams from Selangor, Perlis, Pahang and Negeri Sembilan had competed in the Proton Ertiga.

The premise was simple - participants were given 10 minutes to squeeze themselves in the Ertiga and nnce doors are closed, a five-second countdown is done.

The objectives of the contest included creating a fun platform for Proton fans and to allow consumers to explore and discover the spaciousness of a Proton MPV (multi-purpose vehicle).
