SUBANG JAYA: Intent on tapping the wellspring of creativity, Proton has started a nationwide quest to find students with leadership qualities to lead meaningful marketing campaigns centred on the X70 SUV.

The competition, named "Intelligence that Inspires Challenge", aims to showcase not only their creativity but also their execution capabilities and empowers university students to execute large-scale marketing campaigns. At the same time, it helps Proton whip up more  publicity on the X70 that could translate into more sales.

The contest – which is organised in partnership with the Ministry of Education – began in April and will run until the end of July.

It is divided into three stages – Elimination Round, Semi-Final and Final.

A total of 51 teams from 20 institutions of higher learning around Malaysia have registered as participants.

Out of the 51 teams, only 19 will be selected to enter the second stage of the competition.

Everything then builds up to a finale scheduled to happen on July 23 at the Proton Centre of Excellence in Shah Alam where competitors will be judged by a panel, including leading experts in marketing.

"I strongly believe that leadership is cultivated from a young age, and so through this competition we hope to provide the opportunity to our next generation of leaders from established universities in Malaysia to shine on a national level and equip them with the skill sets to excel in the corporate world," said Proton CEO Dr Li Chunrong.
