LONDON: Radical Sportscars has introduced its new flagship road-legal Rapture sports car at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The Rapture - also intended for European markets from launch (with homologation for worldwide territories to follow) is solely built and designed at the company’s Peterborough (Cambridgeshire) production facility in the UK.

A 2,261cc turbocharged EcoBoost (Ford) engine works together with its lightweight spaceframe chassis with FIA-compliant safety cell and crash structure, high-downforce composite bodywork, bi-plane rear wing and double-tunnel rear diffuser.

The engine, reworked by Radical Performance Engines, features an all-new turbo architecture and air induction system to produce 350bhp and 434Nm of torque - all managed by a six-speed paddle-shift gearbox.

The Rapture sits on an enhanced version of the firm’s proven Nik-link suspension system, optimised for both road and track use, and is complete with adjustable dampers.

For driver comfort, the cockpit incorporates two moulded racing seats, with integral headrests and multi-point harnesses while the dashboard offers an LCD display with data-logging functions as well as heating and a multi-function digital steering wheel.
