KUALA LUMPUR: Ford has recorded its best-ever February sales in Malaysia, which jumped 66% year-on-year to 1,249 units.

For Feb 2015, this was mainly due to the popularity of the Ranger pick-up truck, which saw sales surged 104% year-on-year to 966 units.

“Our customers tell us that it’s the Ranger’s class-leading safety features and extraordinary capability they value most, whether transporting the family in Kuala Lumpur or hauling a heavy load in Sarawak,” said Ford Motor Company (Malaysia and Asia Pacific Emerging Markets) managing director David Westerman.

Offering an unmatched safety package for the segment in Malaysia, the full Ranger line-up is equipped with active and passive safety features, including driver and front passenger airbags standard on all models, in addition to side and rear curtain airbags in the Wildtrak variant.

The Ranger also features Ford’s Electronic Stability Control (ESC) across all variants and ISOFIX mounts for child seats in the Wildtrak, as well as all XLT and XL Double Cab variants.

Meanwhile, the sporty Fiesta compact car delivered sales of 129 units in February, led by strong demand for the 1.0L EcoBoost variant.

The Fiesta offers the most comprehensive safety package in its class, including seven airbags, and comes packed with smart technologies, including Ford’s award-winning SYNC in-car connectivity system.

The EcoSport compact urban SUV (sport utility vehicle) contributed sales of 66 units in February.
