PETALING JAYA: Honda Malaysia today anounced that booking is open for the refreshed CR-V.

The SUV is set to be launched in Malaysia in Q4 2020, with prices to be announced then.

So what's new?

The new CR-V exterior is made to look more rugged and it now comes with advanced safety features as well as new convenience features.

The CR-V gets a black grille combined with LED headlights, while the new front bumper is surrounded by a wing-style chrome fascia to give it a bold appearance.

The back side gets dark chrome and smoked finished taillights. The rear bumper is also garnished with the wing-style chrome fascia and new tail pipe finisher. The 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels are of a new design, too.

A hands-free power tailgate has finally arrived for the CR-V, making it easy to open or close with a kicking motion under the rear bumper. Honda LaneWatch is also now a standard safety feature across the lineup. This system features a camera mounted on the left passenger side mirror with visuals displayed on the car's infotainment screen when turning or changing lanes.

As in most facelifted cases, engine specs remain untouched. The new CR-V is powered by the same 1.5L VTEC turbocharged engine as before, producing up to 190hp and 243Nm, which is more powerful than a 2.4L engine's performance.

However, Honda's press release made no mention whether the two-litre variant will continue to be sold in the refreshed line-up.

As before, Honda Sensing would be fitted to the top variant and comprised a set of active safety features namely: Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC); Low-Speed Follow (LSF); Forward Collision Warning (FCW); Collision; Mitigation Braking System (CMBS); Lane Departure Warning (LDW); Road Departure Mitigation(RDM); Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS); and Auto High-Beam (AHB).

The CR-V was the first Completely Knocked-Down model to roll out of Honda's plant in Malacca in 2003. It went on to achieve a leading position in the SUV segment and market share with over 100,000 units sold since then.

Since the launch of the current fifth generation CR-V in 2017, more than 36,000 units have been put on Malaysian roads. The CR-V contributed 19% to the overall non-national SUV segment.

The CR-V will make it debut in the same period as the all-new City.
