All-new Subaru XV launched in Taiwan

TAIPEI: Regional Subaru distributor Motor Image has launched the new generation XV here.

The company indicated that Malaysia is due to receive the new XV — in entry-level 2.0i and range-topping 2.0i-S variants — by year-end with deliveries beginning after the start of 2018.

The XV has been enhanced with a chassis that's 70% more rigid over its predecessor, while sporting wheelbase of 2,665mm (+30mm) and measuring 4,465mm-long (+15mm), 1,800mm-wide (+20mm) and 1,615mm-tall (+45mm).

Both variants use a 63-litre (+13-litre) fuel tank to feed the revamped 2.0-litre (1,995cc) naturally aspirated direct fuel-injected four-cylinder boxer engine that's now 12kg lighter.

Power has been rated at 156PS (+6PS) at 6,000rpm (-200rpm) and 196Nm of torque at 4,000rpm (-200rpm), while being managed by a 7.8kg-lightened Lineartronic continuously variable transmission (CVT) with paddle-shifters.

The gearbox also features auto-step shift and a seven-speed manual mode for the symmetrical all-wheel drive system with X-Mode.

As standard, the XV has 220mm of ground clearance, 17-inch wheels with 225/60 series tyres, disc brakes all-round, front MacPherson struts, rear double wishbones, front and rear fog lamps, roof rails and a roof spoiler.

Cabin convenience comes in the form of keyless-entry with push-start button, electronic parking brake, idle-stop system, one-touch turn signal, PIN code access and a retractable cover for the boot.

A 6.5-inch audio touchscreen display takes care of entertainment and comes equipped with a USB port, AUX-jack, voice recognition, Bluetooth connectivity and a reverse camera.

For safety, there are seven airbags, four-channel anti-lock braking system, brake assist, brake override, safety pedal system, vehicle dynamics control system, hill holder, hill-start assist and ISOFIX anchor points at the 60:40 split rear folding seats.

As for the 2.0i-S, it gets up-sized 18-inch wheels with 225/55 series tyres along with with headlamp washers, automatic LED steering responsive headlamps, power-folding external mirrors with integrated turn-signals and a glass sunroof.

Additional kit includes aluminium pedals, auto-dimming rear view mirror, multi-function steering wheel, multi-function cruise control, power-adjustable driver's seat, automatic wipers and an 8.0-inch touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay.

Lastly, safety gets bolstered by the addition of blind-spot detection, highbeam assist, lane-change assist and rear cross-traffic alert.
