Fully imported from South Korea, the Veloster Turbo is Hyundai’s turbocharged version of the unique 1+2 door sporty coupe. It is the first Hyundai vehicle to be fitted with the 1.6-litre T-GDI engine that features a high-compression, twin-scroll turbocharger combined with the GDI system.
The Gamma 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine is the smallest Hyundai engine to use direct injection. This technology helps deliver more power, better fuel economy, lower emissions and higher reliability.
The T-GDI engine offers instantaneous power delivery of 186PS horsepower and 265Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch Automatic transmission (DCT).
Apart from a new engine, the Veloster Turbo gets a host of new upgrades including a much sportier look. Among the exciting new features are sport-tuned engine intake and exhaust note, new front fascia, new 18-inch alloy wheels, projector headlights with LED accents, LED rear lamp, a sporty two-tone coloured seat and new exterior colours including Hyundai’s limited edition Matte Grey.
More details on the specification of the car will be unveiled at the launch.
The Veloster, first launched in Malaysia in 2012, combines the style of a coupe and the functionality of a hatchback, while incorporating an additional kerbside door.
“The Veloster Turbo will continue to appeal to drivers who are looking for a combination of a stylish coupe, powerful yet efficient engine and practical features,” said Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors managing director Lau Yit Mun.
The selling price is expected to start from RM150,000 (price inclusive of GST but excludes insurance).
HSDM offers a 5-year or 300,000km (whichever comes first) extended warranty on all its new passenger vehicles. A 24-hour road assist service is also available now for new and existing Hyundai vehicles.
