Revealed at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, the Renault ZOE has a 22kWh lithium ion battery, which can take nine hours for a full charge with a regular 3.6kW Delta wall-mounted charger (included with the car), or four hours with a fast 7kW charger.
The synchronous electric motor with rotor coil delivers an output of 87hp at 3,000 to 11,300rpm and maximum torque of 220Nm at 250 to 2,500rpm.
Running on 195/55 R16 tyres, it takes just four seconds to accelerate from 0 to 48kph, a frequent requirement in city driving.
Acceleration is smooth and linear with no stumbling, thanks to the reduction gear, which transmits the rotational speed of the motor to the wheels, without a clutch system or converter.
The position of the battery under the floor helps to balance the weight between front and rear (59 % / 41 % when stationary) for better traction.
It has fabric seats, keyless system (with walkaway lock), cruise control and speed limiter, Renault R-Link audio system, automatic wipers and headlights, automatic climate control.
Safety features include four airbags, ABS, electronic stability control, with anti slip regulation, electronic brake force distribution, brake assist.
