SEPANG: Repsol Honda Team MotoGP riders of Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa hosted the ‘Repsol Honda Team’s Day’ event at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) for 30 underprivileged students to promote road awareness and personal safety.
The event had the riders teach the importance of safety gear, proper licensing, training and speed to the students from schools within Sepang that included SMK Sg Rawang, SMK Seri Sepang, SMK Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi, SMK Pantai Sepang Putra, SMK Sg Pelek and SMK Dengkil.

Also, tips were given to the students on bike maintenance, riding posture, road signs, steering techniques, starting and stopping techniques as well as a slalom course.
Such initiatives by Repsol in Malaysia is part of its ongoing community outreach to help address the issue of traffic accidents in Malaysia.

This is part of the Spanish oil and gas company’s many local corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes for its safety awareness campaigns that have been organised annually since 2013.
Via early awareness, the company seeks to teach the importance of personal safety to the younger population with the aim of minimising the risk of road accidents.

Since the inception of the company’s safety campaigns, 11,000 primary school children have been able to benefit from such awareness programmes in both Terengganu and Sabah.
“As a professional rider, safety is always my number one priority whether it’s on the track or on the road and this is a great initiative to raise awareness for everyone, especially to the younger generation,” said Marquez.
