BEIJING: Increased vehicle sales in Malaysia indicate that the economy is recovering well, says Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng.

He said vehicle sales increased by 13% in the first five months of this year compared to the same period last year.

“Vehicle sales are a direct indicator of the economy’s performance.

“This is a sign of good economic growth this year,” he told Malaysians during a gathering at the embassy here yesterday.

He added that the Pakatan Harapan government was confident that the country’s economy would be back on track in a few years’ time.

Lim is here on a working visit at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Liu Kun to discuss bilateral cooperation.

This is his first trip to China as Finance Minister. Lim will be spending three days here before visiting Shanghai and Guangzhou, and will head home on Thursday.
