Shell out RM50, get free TnG RFID tag installed

KUALA LUMPUR: If you are fuelling up or buying other products at Shell stations, you can get the Touch ‘n Go (TnG) RFID tag installed at no charge. Yes, like free!

The condition is that you must spend at least RM50 using your TnG eWallet. The offer is valid from Feb 15 to March 31, or while stocks last.

The latest offer came following the announcement that TnG had ended the free RFID installation on Feb 11.

TnG has set aside 10,000 RFID tags for 10 Shell stations in the Klang Valley under a deal with the oil company.

The participating Shell stations are:

> Shell Wangsa Maju 2
> Shell Taman Connaught
> Shell STN Minyak Kota Warisan 1
> Shell PLUS Highway Jalan Duta Klang Bound (Entrance of NKVE Jalan Duta)
> Shell Desa Aman Puri
> Shell Jalan Kuchai Lama 2
> Shell Kota Damansara Seksyen 6
> Shell Sri Hartamas
> Shell Jalan Kepong 2 (Lot 4086 Jln Kepong Mukim Batu, Kuala Lumpur, 52100)
> Shell Jalan Cheras KM 5.5 (PT 7430 HSD 111856, Kuala Lumpur, 56100)

Should you be unable to get the RFID tags from the above Shell stations, you can buy them at all TnG fitment centres nationwide at RM35 apiece from Feb 15. This includes a one-time replacement on the same vehicle (no time period).

As part of TnG's goal to expand the use of RFID technology, it plans to work with Shell Malaysia to enable motorists to pay for fuel using RFID.

At present, there are over 1 million users of TnG RFID and the number is growing, offering a ready pool for RFID fuelling and other future retail payment opportunities.

RFID fuelling allows payments to be completed at the bay without any interaction with users' mobile phones or point-of-sale system. At the fuelling bay, an overhead scanner reads the radio-frequency from each RFID tag and deducts the amount.

"Transaction details are available immediately at the palm of their hands through the TnG eWallet," said TnG CEO Syahrunizam Samsudin.

Touch ‘n Go and Shell Malaysia also announced a campaign for e-tunai recipients on the TnG eWallet. From Feb 17 to March 14, e-tunai recipients are entitled to receive a cashback of RM5 + RM2 when they spend a minimum of RM20 at Shell stations nationwide.

A total of 950 Shell stations nationwide accept payments using TnG eWallet.
