SPONSORED: Mitsubishi Outlander gets more accessible

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia has localised the assembling of the Outlander sport utility vehicle, making the vehicle more affordable for consumers.

The seven-seater SUV with a 2.0-litre engine takes its place as an entry-level variant to the Japanese-imported 2.4-litre Outlander that made its debut in Malaysia in April last year.

The Outlander 2.0 is currently being priced on-the-road with GST without insurance at RM139,988 until the end of the year and comes with a five-year unlimited mileage factory warranty.

For the moment, orders are being taken for the 2.0-litre Outlander which comes in three colour options of Red Metallic, Solar White and a new and exclusively available colour for Malaysia - Ruby Black.

The Outlander 2.0’s engine which delivers 145PS and 196NM of torque, is mated to an INVECS-III continuously variable transmission featuring a Multi-Select four-wheel drive (4WD) system with three modes of 4WD Eco, 4WD Auto and 4WD Lock.

In terms of features, LEDs are used for the daytime running lights as well as the front and rear lights.

For convenience, there are a reverse camera with guide lines, automatic wipers, keyless entry with push-start button, front and rear parking sensors, digital video recorder (dashcam) and security/solar film for all windows.

Entertainment comes from a 7.0-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system infused with Apple CarPlay and Air Gesture Control.

Safety options include seven airbags, anti-lock braking system, electronic brakeforce distribution, electronic stability programme, brake assist, active stability and traction control, hill-start assist, rest reminder and lSOFIX child seat mounts as standard within its Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) body construction.

Opting for the fully-imported 2.4-litre Outlander will cost an additional RM31,000 at RM171,000 and that means there is also additional goodies such as an electric parking brake, auto hold function, large floor console, auto levelling LED headlamps, paddle-shifters, auto dimming rear view mirror, powered leather seats, sunroof and a powered tailgate.

“The Outlander SUV boasts outstanding safety and space for the family, and the move to locally assemble a new 2.0L variant makes the SUV even more affordable for Malaysians.

“We assure that there is no difference in quality between locally-assembled and imported units,” said MMM chief executive officer Tomoyuki Shinnishi.

The Outlander 2.0 is being contract-assembled at Tan Chong Motors Assemblies’ (TCMA) Segambut plant in Kuala Lumpur – the same plant the ASX rolls out from since 2014.

Mitsubishi Motors Corp (Japan) has personnel stationed at the production line to oversee processes and quality control.
