Subaru XV (MY16) arrives in Malaysia

PETALING JAYA: Motor Image, the authorised distributor of Subaru automobiles in Malaysia, has unveiled the face-lifted Subaru XV that now bears the code MY16, which offers improved aesthetics, enhanced features and powertrain.

There are two variants available for the new XV – a 2.0i and 2.0i-Preimum, available currently for booking and both models are currently priced on-the-road without GST and insurance at RM121,000 and RM125,000 respectively.

Colour options include Pure White, Ice Silver Metallic, Desert Khaki, Tangerine Orange Pearl, Dark Grey Metallic and Obsidian Black Pearl.

With a ground clearance of 220mm and kerb weight at 1,410kg (1,460kg – Premium), the latest incarnation of the XV has a 2,635mm wheelbase and stands 4,450mm-long, 1,780mm-wide and 1,615mm-tall.

A 2.0-litre flat four (boxer) petrol engine resides under the hood, providing 148bhp at 6,200rpm and 196Nm of torque at 4,200rpm for the Lineartronic continuously variable transmission (CVT) to manage before releasing it to the Symmetrical all-wheel drive system.

The new XV rolls on 17-inch wheels with 225/55 series tyres and ventilated front discs and solid rear discs take care of stopping power, while MacPherson front struts and a rear double wishbone suspension set up takes care of shock absorption.

Externally, Not much of the MY16 Subaru XV’s exterior has changed except for a touch more black plastic inserts and chrome accents on the grille and fog lamps that are now accompanied by L-shaped daytime running lights.

Furthermore, the 17-inch wheels are now asymmetric in design - loosing the flower-like uniformity from its predecessor and the taillights have received an update as has the power-folding LED wing mirrors to include built-in LED turn signals as well on the Premium model.

Inside, orange piping decorates the leather-clad interior and a colour display now resides in the centre console instead of a digital display before, while a seven-inch touchscreen display takes care of entertainment and navigation needs like before.

As standard, convenience comes in the form of one-touch turn signal, paddle shifters, automatic climate controls, multi-function steering wheel and cruise control.

Subaru XV (MY16) - 22The range-topping Premium adds on a retractable cargo cover for the boot, keyless entry and push-start button, Bluetooth connectivity, six-speaker premium audio sound system, reverse camera, power adjustable seats, voice command and aluminium pedals.

As for safety, both 2.0i and 2.0i-Premium gets three airbags (1 knee airbag), four-channel anti-lock braking system with electronic brake-force distribution, brake assist, vehicle dynamics control system, safety pedal system, brake override and ISOFIX anchor points.
