JOHOR BARU: A task force has been set up by the government to deal with issues that have been highlighted by the public on the Touch 'n Go system.

Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub said that he has received a lot of feedback regarding the Touch 'n Go system.

"I received too many complaints about the system and have told the company to clear up some of the questions that have been raised.

"I have also told the ministry’s secretary-general to set up a special task force to study this matter as soon as possible so that we can solve it once and for all," he said in a press conference at a restaurant in Kampung Pasir here today.

He noted that among the complaints received were difficulties in getting new Touch 'n Go cards, problems with its newly launched Visa prepaid card, poor customer service and problems with the radio frequency identification (RFID) technology.

"I have told the task force under the ministry to carry out an in-depth study on this matter as there have been just too many complaints, especially this week.

“The company has also been told to give case-by-case reports to the ministry on the complaints that have been received.

"Let the task force investigate the matter first once they have received the reports,” he said.

Salahuddin said the ministry will ensure that the issues are addressed properly as the service is being used in all tolls nationwide and involves millions of users.

“It is especially problematic when such problems arise during festive seasons as we will see a large number of vehicles using the roads.

“We will wait for more developments next week after the reports have been received from the company and studied by the task force. If not, further actions will be taken,” he said.
