AUCKLAND: With Team EBM (Earl Bamber Motorsport), Porsche works driver Earl Bamber will campaign a 485hp Porsche 911 GT3 Cup in the 2019 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia Championship as Team Porsche New Zealand - supported by the Official Porsche Centres of New Zealand.
The driving duties for the 7 round championship will fall with Earl’s younger brother Will Bamber.
The Whanganui born driver is now a seasoned Carrera Cup racer having competed in the Asian championship for 2 full-seasons, achieving 5 overall victories, 17 podiums and the 2017 Rookie championship along with representing Asia at the Porsche International Scholarship Shootout.
Notably, it was two titles in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia Championship (2013/2014) that propelled older brother Earl on to a Porsche Scholarship drive in the Mobil1 Supercup – an opportunity that Will is also aiming to utilise and propel his career.
Earl has since become a 2x Le Mans winner (2015/2017) and World Endurance Champion (2017). Will has already tasted success in the 2019 Championship with a quickest time during the preseason test in Shanghai over the weekend.
The two-day test was held ahead of the opening round supporting the Formula 1 round this coming weekend.
