Thailand International Motor Expo 2017: Audi A5 Sportback

BANGKOK: Audi Thailand has unveiled two variants of the A5 Sportback in two 2.0-litre TFSI petrol-powered guises.

Both five-door coupe variants use the same 252hp engine that's mated to a seven-speed S-TRONIC dual clutch transmission with prices starting at 3.3mil Baht (RM440,000) for front-wheel driven 40 TFSI, while the all-wheel driven 45 TFSI quattro S line costs 4.3mil Baht (RM540,000).

Featuring the S line exterior body upgrade, the Sportback has a long wheelbase of 2,824mm and measures 4,722mm-long, 1,843mm-wide and 1,386mm-tall. As much as 85kg has been shed off the new model.

Other improvements include the rear five-link suspension system that's claimed to be for better comfort and control.

It also has a three-dimensional Singleframe grille that's significantly flatter and wider than on the outgoing model.

The wave-form of the shoulder line on the new A5 Sportback is more pronounced than before and has a three-dimensional shape and the the rear end exhibits LED horizontal three-dimensional tail lights.

The stretched luggage compartment lid terminates with a spoiler edge.

The interior's length has gained 17mm, while shoulder room for driver and front passenger is up 11mm and there's 24mm-more rear knee room.

The rear seat backrest is 40:20:40 split-foldable and when folded down, it increases the luggage compartment from 480 liters to 1,300 liters.

There's an optional ambient lighting system with a choice of 30 different colours, while the S line styling package includes a powered panoramic sunroof, S Sports front seats with diamond cut pattern and S line emblem, comfort key, powered tailgate and a Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system.

The 34th Thailand International Motor Expo will be open to the public from Nov 30 to Dec 11 at Impact Arena, Muangthong Thani from 12pm to 10pm daily.
