BANGKOK: Nissan's latest ell-electric Leaf hatchback made the scene at this year's Thailand International Motor Expo featuring a new e-POWER technology.

It was in September that the Japanese carmaker decided to bring the Leaf to Thailand.

The new electric powertrain has a power output of 110kW - 38% more than the previous generation of the Leaf, with torque having been increased by 26% to 320Nm for better accelerative properties.

Along with the added performance, its driving range has also improved, allowing the car’s new 40kWh lithium-ion battery pack to deliver an estimated claimed range of 400km, which should satisfy the daily driving of many customers.

The car also features the latest e-Pedal technology that allows drivers to start, accelerate, decelerate, stop, and hold the car just by using the accelerator pedal.

There's also ProPILOT - a single-lane autonomous driving technology, and ProPILOT Park which automatically controls the vehicle and guides it into parking spots.

The company's smart e-POWER technology refers to a further innovation under the ‘Nissan Intelligent Mobility.’

The e-POWER is an adaptation of electric vehicle technology that was perfected in the Leaf first and then paired to a small petrol engine to help recharge the vehicle’s high-output battery when necessary - eliminating the need for an external battery recharger.

The show will be open to the public from Nov 30 to Dec 11 at Impact Arena, Muangthong Thani from 12pm to 10pm daily.
