Tokyo Motor Show 2019: Toyota Mirai Concept

By CARSIFU | 23 October 2019

TOKYO: The Toyota Mirai Concept, launched at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show, features a dynamic exterior design built on Toyota's latest Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform which promises more driving agility and responsiveness.

The four-door fuel cell electric vehicle now comes with a sleeker appearance with large 20-inch wheels.

Compared with the current first generation Mirai launched in 2014, the Mirai Concept is longer and wider but is lower by 65mm for more elegant proportions.

The concept sedan also has a 140mm longer wheelbase which translates into more leg room.

Inside, the dashboard has been redesigned and gets a 12.3-inch wide screen display on the center console.

The fuel cell system configuration using the TNGA platform also allows for five seats, up from the original Mirai's four.

The Mirai Concept's improved fuel cell system and increased hydrogen storage will give it 30% more driving range than the current Mirai.

The Mirai Concept is scheduled for launch late next year in Japan, North America and Europe.
