PETALING JAYA: Tolls rates will be lowered by 18% at the stroke of midnight throughout Malaysia for highways operated by PLUS Expressway.

The 18% reduction in toll is given to passenger vehicles, buses and taxis except for commercial vehicles.

The toll rates for private cars on Penang's Second Bridge will also be the same as toll rates of the first bridge after the discount.

PLUS Expressway operates the North-South Expressway, New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE), Seremban - Port Dickson Highway (SPDH), North-South Expressway Central Circle (ELITE), Malaysia–Singapore Second Link (LINKEDUA), East Coast Highway Phase 2 (LPT 2), Butterworth - Kulim Expressway (BKE), Penang Bridge and Penang Second Bridge.

The current Pakatan Harapan government recently struck a deal with PLUS Malaysia Bhd that allows it a 20-year extension on collecting toll until 2058.

Khazanah Nasional Bhd and the Employees Provident Fund maintains ownership of Plus Expressway at 51% and 49% respectively.
