'Top Gear' season premiere falls short of expectations

LONDON: The season premiere of "Top Gear" hosted by Chris Evans and Matt LeBlanc among others experienced a dip in viewership at 4.3 million viewers in Britain.

According to ratings by overnight.tv, the 23rd season of the series which premiered Sunday in Britain drew a slightly smaller audience compared to the first episode of the previous season which averaged 4.7 million overnight viewers, points out The Hollywood Reporter.

The show's peak audience, meanwhile, was recorded with the final episode helmed by former hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May last June, which drew 5.3 million viewers in overnight ratings, and a 5.8 million peak audience.
