Touch ‘N Go extends RFID tag pilot test

PETALING JAYA: Touch ‘N Go (TNG) is accepting new registrations for users who want to join the RFID pilot test community.

Those who are interested in participating in the pilot test should be quick to register on the RFID webpage as TNG have said that the slots available are limited.

The RFID sticker, which will be free during the TNG RFID Pilot Programme, will allow drivers to make use of the RFID toll lanes on a number of highways in the Klang Valley area.

After registration, users will then have to wait for an invitation via email from TNG, fill in their particulars, and select a "fitment centre" location, date and time for an installation appointment.

Then, users have to go to the fitment centre they selected with their registered vehicle to have the sticker installed.

Users who get an RFID sticker will be able to take advantage of a 20% rebate on their first 10 toll trips until June 30.

The RFID sticker is expected to replace SmartTAGs in phases once it officially launches. One benefit to users is that unlike SmartTAGs, the sticker will not require any batteries to work.

The RFID sticker system uses a sticker embedded with a radio frequency chip which will be pasted directly on to the vehicle's windscreen or headlamp. The sticker, which is unique to each vehicle, will be linked to the Touch ‘N Go eWallet app, allowing users to easily monitor their balance and top up credit via online banking and debit/credit cards.
