Toyota brings Budapest Operetta and Musical Theatre to Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Toyota will be showcasing the internationally acclaimed Hungarian theatre company Budapest Operetta and Musical Theatre as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme.

Dubbed the 26th Toyota Classics 2015 annual concert, the one-night gala performance is part of a tour that sees it landing in seven Asian countries - one of them being Malaysia, and will be held at the at Dewan Filharmonik Petronas.

The “Wildlife Protection and Conservation”-themed performance has already visited Brunei, Cambodia and Laos before landing in Malaysia for its upcoming Oct 19 performance and will continue on to Thailand, The Philippines and finally Vietnam.

Tickets are being sold at the Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS Box Office here with prices ranging from RM106 to RM265. Proceeds will go to local charities and three non-government organisations.

The NGOs are the Borneo Conservation Trust, Malaysian Nature Society and World Wide Fund for Nature (Malaysia), who will be receiving a targeted proceeds of RM365,000.

“Since its inception in 1990, Toyota Classics has held over 184 sell-out classical concerts in Asia, and helped to promote classical music in these countries,” said Takeyama.

He added that the concert is a “fundraising initiative” by the company to raise funds in assisting and financing communities and environmental projects carried out by non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

To date, the Toyota Classics concert series has raised approximately USD7mil (approximately RM26mil) over the last 25 years.
