The staff from Shah Alam headquarters had initiated a donation drive to fund the mobilisation of dry food, groceries, towels, blankets and other necessities to the flood victims housed at relief centers.
UMWT worked closely with National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA), and two relief centres at Sebarang Prai Utara was chosen due to the high density of affected residents.
The volunteers handed over the essentials packed in ration boxes to 220 victims at Sekolah Kebangsaan Padang Menora and Sekolah Agama Rakyat Labuh Banting relief centers.
Around 10 Toyota vehicles which are Toyota Hilux and Fortuner were used for the logistics operation to support the relief activity.
During the relief activity, the company also provided assistance to 20 of its employees in Penang who were badly affected by the flood.
Under UMWT’s internal support welfare program, the employees were given an immediate cash relief and ration box to assist them with their daily need items.
UMWT also runs the Flood Assist Service Campaign at its after sales centers for Toyota owners to repair their damaged vehicles.
Towing of vehicles from flood ravished areas, evaluation of extent of damages, interior and exterior washing are offered free and special discount of 25% on total repair cost are offered to affected Toyota vehicle owners under this program.
“We hope the Toyota Flood Assist Package will further ease the burden of our Toyota vehicles owners who were affected by the recent flood,” continued Ravindran K.
