UMW Toyota Motor lifts Raya spirits with video clips

SHAH ALAM: UMW Toyota Motor understands that many are disappointed with the inability to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri with their loved ones in their respective hometowns.

"Things may be tough (now) but at the end, there will be greater strength and confidence from having endured the challenges,” said UMW Toyota Motor deputy chairman Akio Takeyama.

But all is not lost, with the company having released three videos to help lift spirits - each with its own unique
approach and theme.

The first video was posted on May 6, showing how the public was invited by the company to submit captures of themselves observing Ramadan in their own way while adhering to the MCO.

These homemade videos were then strung together into a more complete film depicting real-life scenarios and experiences of Ramadan being observed under the unique circumstances.

For the Raya videos posted on May 21, two different themes were applied with the first showing a family coming to terms with the current situation and accepting that a necessary sacrifice had to be made.

The clip was produced by working with a real family who shot the scenes themselves with the father operating the camera and lighting while the rest of the family members were the talent and their house as the main location.

On May 25, the second Raya video showed the Toyota GAZOO Racing’s celebrity racers singing a Raya classic - Senandung Hari Raya Untukmu.

The company said that Standard Operating Procedures for the production of all three videos had minimal crew present while the director gave guidance via video calls.

Social distancing was observed during filming with the exception of the family scenes since they depicted people living in the same house.

“We realise this year’s festival will be different and while many are unable to be together, we hope that Malaysians will still be able to celebrate in a meaningful way at home.

On behalf of UMW Toyota Motor, we would like to wish all Malaysians, including our owners, customers and business associates Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri and may you find peace and happiness,” said UMW Toyota Motor president Ravindran K.

Ravindran added that the company's products and services are still accessible and can be had via its online e-showroom, virtual test drives and augmented reality app among others.
