SHAH ALAM: UMW Toyota Motor launched the 2023 calendar for the Toyota Tour, the nation’s first premier professional golf tournament, which is a result of a historic naming rights partnership with the Professional Golf of Malaysia (PGM) Tournament.

This year’s much-awaited season will tee off at Saujana Golf & Country Club on March 8-11, offering RM230,000 in total prize money.

This is followed by eight more closed tournaments in premium courses around the nation, each offering total prize money of RM210,000.

The 2023 Toyota Tour will culminate with the Toyota Championship at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club on November 14-17, which will be a co-sanctioned event with the Asian
Development Tour (ADT), boasting a RM350,000 prize pot.

UMW Toyota Motor president Datuk Ravindran K. said the company saw a lot of synergy between Toyota and the world of professional golf, as both shared the same drive for perfection.

“As a mobility company we support initiatives that encourage us to push our limits,” he said, adding that the Toyota Tour intends to elevate professional golf in the country by making it more lucrative and with more premium venues.

This launch is reinforced by a strong start to 2023 with the Toyota brand registering 6,771 sales units in January, while Lexus posted total sales of 15 units for a total sales performance of 6,786 units (Toyota + Lexus).

In celebration of the Lunar New Year, UMWT is handing out great deals to customers looking for 'abundant prosperity.'

Fans of the Vios and Yaris can look forward to exciting deals with monthly instalments from as low as RM598 and RM558 respectively, on top of promotions worth up to a whopping RM5,490.

In addition, UMWT is also offering the Toyota Service Savers from RM22 a month to ensure peak performance throughout the car ownership journey.

Ravindran also said the company was honoured to be able to kick off 2023 with a bang by being awarded the Platinum Award by Putra Brand Awards for the fourth time running.

“Coupled with the title of No.1 Non-National Automotive Brand, recording over 100,000 vehicle sales last year, we are extremely grateful to our customers for their continued support and we are more committed than ever to going the ‘Extra Mile’ to ‘Move Your World’ and bring about an exceptional ownership experience," said Ravindran.
