Volkswagen looks to Pahang university for skilled workers

PEKAN: Volkswagen Group Malaysia is working with Universiti Malaysia Pahang and Volkswagen Group Malaysia to produce an industry-relevant workforce.

Both parties signed a memorandum of understanding towards this objective today.

The partnership also aims to boost advancement in education, research and technology, especially in autotronics, where students learning electronic and programming at the university have the most to gain.

Volkswagen's Pekan plant will be offering students fromt the university internship placements as well as access to the plant to broaden their practical understanding of what is learnt in the classroom. There will also be workshops on new technology and research findings.

The agreement would also see an exchange of staff and academic material between the two parties.

The memorandum of understanding was signed by vice-chancellor Professor Datuk Sri Dr Daing Nasir Ibrahim and Volkswagen plant manager Danny Auerswald at the university's Pekan campus.
