“Our customers are our top priority and investing on infrastructure is one of the ways we can strive to improve our offerings and the overall ownership experience,” said Volkswagen Group Malaysia managing director Armin Keller who officiated the event.

Also present was Goh Brothers chairman, Goh Kian Sin.

The Selayang Centre is the third Volkswagen Technical Centre which also serves as a training centre for the Volkswagen staff.

The Volkswagen Selayang 4S Centre will cater for customers in Selayang, Batu Caves, Jalan Ipoh, Kepong, Sg Buloh, Jinjang and Rawang areas.

As for improving its aftersales service, the Volkswagen Group Malaysia general manager-head of group technical service, Deenan Nadar, said in a seperate interview that Volkswagen recognises the problems customers face with its aftersales service and are tackling the problems head on.

“Volkswagen Malaysia are aware of the challenges and are very serious in tackling the problems. Which is why we are increasing the number of service centres to cater for our customers.

“We also have technical support direct from (Volkswagen headquarters) Wolfsburg and we are continuing the Volkswagen German Expert programme for 2016. Our dealer technicians are also being qualified to Master Technician level. We currently have 16 qualified master technicians (12 within Klang Valley area)."

Taking the new Volkswagen Selayang 4S Centre as an example, Deenan said the new centre prioritises aftersales more than showroom space.

“The showroom area in Selayang is much smaller while the aftersales area is bigger with a ratio of 70:30 (aftersales:showroom). Service appoinments time have also been improved to not more than two days wait. And we are also reducing the time it takes to get our spare-parts which come from Singapore and Germany,” said Deenan.

The Volkswagen Selayang 4S Centre showroom opens seven days a week while its service center operates from Monday to Saturday, 8.30am to 5.30pm.
