Volkswagen to absorb price difference ahead of SST announcement

KUALA LUMPUR: Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has announced that it has added an extension to the tax holiday for its current range of models with its new Price Protection Scheme.

The scheme, in the form of a rebate, covers all Volkswagen models registered from now until Nov 15, while stocks last.

“The response in the past three months since the announcement of 0% GST has been overwhelming and we have been trying to keep up with the demand for stock.

With the implementation of the Sales and Service Tax (SST) set to be implemented on Sept 1, the company also stated that it will absorb any price difference from its current 0% GST prices for all its locally assembled and imported models.

The company advised that customers should take this opportunity to place their booking for a new Volkswagen to enjoy the scheme.

"The introduction of this Price Protection Scheme is a way for VPCM to assure our customers that we have their best interest at heart, so we urge customers to place their bookings now and enjoy the extended tax holidays”, said VPCM managing director Erik Winter. He had earlier revealed the scheme during a media luncheon in Kuala Lumpur on Monday.

On aftersales support to customers, Winter said it is now better but "there's still room for improvement." VW owner complaints on problems relating to transmission and engine have been minimised, he added.

All Volkswagen models come with a standard five-year manufacturer’s warranty, three years free maintenance and five years roadside assistance.
