Volkswagen to showcase large plug-in SUV concept in Beijing

WOLFSBURG: Volkswagen has announced that it will be revealing a luxury SUV concept at the April 25-May 4 Beijing Motor Show.

According to a terse statement from the German car maker, it would be a sporty and elegant vehicle with a plug-in-hybrid powertrain that's capable of 376hp and 700Nm of torque. It said the fully electric range of the SUV is up to 50km, with a predicted NEDC combined fuel consumption is 3l/100km.

The concept is also said to be able to sprint from standstill to 100kph in 6 seconds and has a top speed of 224kph.

Volkswagen described the cabin as adopting a lounge-style and digitised operation are centered on passengers and offer a new level of interactivity.

As is trending now in Volkswagen and its Audi division, the concept will also showcase a fully digital instrument cluster that integrates the infotainment system.
