Volvo's Polestar banned in France over logo row

PARIS: Citroën took Volvo to court over the use of the logo in the latter's plug-in hybrid Polestar 1 which the French marque claims it bears more than an uncanny resemblance to.

It reportedly pointed out that Polestar redesigned its logo in 2017, a decade after Citroën last applied to trademark the double chevrons in 2014 for its DS division.

The French court agreed with Citroën and slapped a €150,000  (RM727,888) fine on Volvo on top of banning the car in the French market for six months, according to Automobile Magazine.

Ironically, Volvo has no plans to sell Polestar in France.

"Polestar does not operate in France, and we currently have no plans to operate in France," a spokesman told Autoblog.
