VW and Pinterest team up on ID.4 EV virtual test drive experience

WASHINGTON: Volkswagen of America and Pinterest on Monday launched a unique experience where Pinterest users can virtually test drive for free Volkswagen's all-new, ID.4 through the social platform.

Delivering a full 360-degree view of VW's electric SUV, the campaign is a first-to-market for Pinterest, and delivers a new informative, convenient element in the car shopping process.

Building off the "Before it can change the world, it has to change yours" all-electric, zero direct emission ID.4 messaging, the integration with Pinterest delivers a new way to educate platform users on the content that inspires them.

Before implementation, many "Pinners" have expressed an interest in engaging with automotive content. Through these engagements, one in three platform users have expressed inspiration to shop for a car they weren't originally considering for purchase.



"A game changing car like the ID.4 deserves a game changing shopping experience, and that starts at the test drive," said Kimberley Gardiner, senior vice president, Volkswagen Brand Marketing.

"This virtual 360 experience we've created with Pinterest allows us to educate potential customers how functional, fun and within reach our new EV is. A platform like Pinterest — which many users visit for both shopping information and inspiration — presents a unique opportunity to reach consumers in a whole new way."

The ID.4 was recently named 2021 World Car of the Year. The German automaker has said before that it aim to roll out at least one new all-electric model to market globally every year.
