PUTRAJAYA: Online bidding for Kuala Lumpur's "VDN" licence plate numbers will be opened from June 21, says Anthony Loke.

The Transport Minister said following the success of the e-bidding for the Putrajaya "FC" numbers in April, the ministry – through the Road Transport Department (JPJ) – had decided to continue with the system.

"Bidding for the VDN number series will be opened for five days beginning June 21, from midnight to 11.59pm on June 25. The winners will be announced at noon on June 26.

"Registration can be done at the portal https://jpjebid.jpj.gov.my or via the JPJeBid mobile app," said Loke at a press conference here Friday (June 14).

For "golden numbers", the minimum bid is RM20,000, with subsequent bids set at RM1,000 increments.

The Putrajaya "FC" number series was the first to use the online e-bidding system.

The system was launched in conjunction with the 73rd JPJ Day celebrations on April 15 and the ministry collected RM3,113,364 from 2,481 bids.

The highest winning bid was for the number "FC1" which collected RM231,000.
