Weekend crowd packs KLIMS’18

KUALA LUMPUR: The Kuala Lumpur International Motorshow 2018 (KLIMS’18) saw a packed weekend crowd, with visitors eagerly checking out the latest cars, innovative automotive products, exotic vehicles, souped-up cars, the longest limousine in Malaysia and fancy customised bikes.

The 10-day motor show at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) will end on Dec 2.

The Petronas area was a beehive of activity, with visitors constantly surrounding a Formula One racing car courtesy of Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport and racing bikes from the Petronas Yamaha SIC MotoGP team.

At the Petronas area, a range of Mercedes-Benz cars namely the A 200, AMG C 43, S 450 and CLS 450 coupe, and racing simulators as well as a special room that offers an immersive surround-view experience of Petronas' Fluid Technology Solutions for vehicle performance were also big hits with visitors.

Among the visitors was 34-year-old Zuharri Yusoff who drove from Seremban, Negeri Sembilan with his wife and children.

"I want to expose my young kids to the exciting automotive world. It's the weekend and the motor show is a good event where I can spend quality time with my family," said Zuharri.

Meanwhile, 30-year-old automotive distributor Kent Lim opined that the motor show was "pretty impressive in terms of activities."

"It's my first motor show and I think it's very cool. For me, the beautiful ladies (brand ambassadors) is a highlight," said Lim.

As for 24-year-old student Vernon Raj, the Art of Speed Zone which showcases the latest custom-built bikes is a prime attraction.

"I find the motor show to be quite exciting as there are so many varieties of vehicles," he said.

KLIMS’18 features over 74 marques of vehicle brands and automotive products spanning over six exhibitions halls covering two levels at MITEC.

Participating automotive brands include CAM, Citroen, Daihatsu, DS, Ford, Grand Max, Honda, Hyundai, Isuzu, Kia, Lexus, Petronas Motorsports, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Perodua, Peugeot, Proton, Tata, Toyota and UD Trucks.

KLIMS’18 opening hours are from 11am to 10pm on weekdays and 10am to 10pm on weekends.

Every entrance ticket purchased stands a chance to win either a Toyota C-HR, a Honda City or a Perodua Myvi through a lucky draw.

Entrance tickets secured via online at AirAsia Red Tix are also entitled to win a fortnightly draw with AirAsia return flights to Bangkok, Hong Kong, Bali, Taipei, Jakarta and Shanghai as well as the grand draw to Tokyo.

Entrance fees are RM20 on weekdays and RM25 on weekends.

For children aged three to 12 years old, entrance tickets are RM5 and students/senior citizens are charged RM5 (weekdays only).

There is also a family package where parents and up to five children aged 12 years old and below are charged RM40 (weekdays) and RM50 (weekends).

Those with special needs (with handicapped card/physically handicapped) get free entry together with one accompanying person.
