KUALA LUMPUR: After the launch of Malaysia's first drive-in cinema in Perak less than two weeks ago, the country's capital will be getting its first drive-in cinema experience on July 30.M-Junction Drive-In Cinema - operated by TwoSpicy Entertainment Live and MD Events Asia - is situated at Matic, Jalan Ampang here
StarLifestyle spoke to TwoSpicy Entertainment Live chief executive officer Arvin Singh Randhawa on what to expect when choosing a drive-in cinema experience.
Q: Will I need to get out of my car at any point during the drive-in cinema experience?
Before the event, you book your tickets and food online. On the day of the event, you have to go through a screening process. We will check your temperature and you have to provide us with your contact details while seated in your car.
Then you will proceed to park your car. The parking spots are on a first-come, first-serve basis. The food that you've ordered will be delivered to you by our ground crew.
The only time you need to get down from your car is if you need to use the toilet. But even at the toilet, social distancing rules will be followed.
Q: The earliest time slot is 6pm. Will it be dark enough for us to see the screen?
There are two screening sessions a night, and the first slot is around 6pm. We are using an LED screen instead of a projector. So the visuals are still clear.
Q: Audio-wise, what if my car is parked far away from the LED screen. Will I be able to hear anything?
Each car is given a speaker and an AUX cable, placed inside a sealed bag. After the screening, simply return them. They are sanitised after each use.

Kuala Lumpur's first drive-in cinema is located at Matic, Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur.
There are 50 cars, with a maximum of two people in a car. Each car is parked 1.2m to 1.8m apart.
Q: Will I need to wear a face mask during the screening?
You need to wear a face mask anytime you are outside the car (E.g., to go to the toilet).
Q: Can I wind down the window during the screening?
You can wind down the window but smoking is strictly not allowed.
Q: Can I leave a screening midway?
Yes, we have provided enough space for each car to leave when they want to. But our SOP requires you to turn on your double signal first. Then our ground crew will come to the car and collect the AUX cable and speaker before you drive off.
Q: What if it rains?
Just like every outdoor experience in Malaysia, we will first try to delay the experience. A light drizzle won't be much of a problem.
But if there's heavy rain, we will delay the experience. And it persists for 20 to 25 minutes, then you can reschedule the screening at another date.
> Tickets are priced at RM99 (includes food and movie passes for two) and RM159 (includes food, popcorn, movie passes for two and priority front row parking). Available for purchase at mjunction.my.
