GENTING HIGHLANDS: The highland resort now has a charging station for electric cars.

It is located at the Awana SkyCentral Transportation Hub Carpark at Genting Highlands Premium Outlets.

The charger works with all electric vehicles on the road today, according to Schneider Electrics, which supplied and installed the device.

It can charge up to 10 times faster than a domestic socket outlet, depending on the EV used and the charging power capacity of the solution, the company said.

With a rated charging power of 7.4kW and a Type 2 socket outlet, it will take EV users an average charging time of four hours for a typical electric passenger car to achieve a range of 40km from near depletion, which is just enough for an EV driver to reach Karak town from the charging station.

Schneider Electric Malaysia snagged the installation deal with Resorts World Genting.
