Look at Jun go!

Life is lived like an adventure for Jun Yong, the girl who likes trying out new things and gaining unique experiences.

This passion for life led her to join last year’s Miss Malaysia Tourism pageant where she was crowned the winner who eventually represented the country to the Miss Tourism International pageant in the same year.

“I enjoyed the entire process and at the final pageant, I emerged as the fourth runner-up. I was also named the Dream Girl of the Year International 2012 in the same pageant,” the friendly lass said.

The craziest thing she has done before was to fly to Boston without planning anything, just to visit her friends.

“Basically, I had to rely on them for a place to bunk in but it was quite an experience, not knowing if I have a place to sleep at every night,” she said, adding that she had studied journalism at the Emerson College there previously.

Stepping out from her white Toyota Prius in a studded leather jacket, aviators and red hair, she says her friends jokingly refer to her as the eco warrior.

“Many say I do not suit the image of the car but I really like it. This is my first car and I really love it. It is easy to drive and after it, everything else feels less pleasurable to sit behind the wheel, except for my dream car of course,” she said.

Yong is certainly far from being a soccer mom or anything like that though and is a rebel at heart, preferring to stay away from stereotypes.

She is also a football fan, since she was introduced to the game during the World Cup in 2002.

“My favourite national team is from Germany and I support Liverpool. Watching all the matches would be quite impossible but it is not unusual to find me catching early morning matches,” she said, adding that the same morning of her carsifu shoot, she had caught a match that lasted until 4.30am.

Currently, she is studying broadcasting and journalism at Lim Kok Wing University of Creative Technology with a full scholarship while co-hosting 8TV Quickie.

“I started in May and it is quite a challenging job. There is no script so we have to ad lib. It takes getting used to but I am doing alright,” she said.

For now, these challenges will be occupying Yong’s life and providing her with all the adventure she seeks, until the next one comes along that is.

As for her driving adventures, Yong, who had tried out a friend’s Range Rover Evoque and felt it to be a macho car that made her feel quite safe on the road, did feel attracted to the shiny yellow Volkswagen Beetle 2.0 TSI, her modelling partner for the day.
