Although Alfa Romeo's place in automotive history is cemented thanks to its incredible racing success, it has been in no hurry to race back into the spotlight with cars that over-promise and under deliver.
Instead it has been conducting its resurrection one model at a time and one show at a time and for Paris, that model will be the Giulia Veloce.
Like Quadrifoglio, the badge that historically adorned the company's most ferocious models, the Veloce moniker was reserved for those cars that offered the purest sporting pleasure, therefore its resurrection wasn't taken lightly.
Luckily, the Giulia to which it will be applied won't disappoint the marque's diehard fans. The sedan will boast a 280hp 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, Alfa's new Q4 all-wheel drive technology and an eight-speed sports automatic transmission.
To set it apart from the standard Giulia and the range-topping Nurburgring lap record-holding Quadrifoglio, the Veloce has unique front and rear bumpers, a rear diffuser with integrated twin tailpipes and 19-inch versions of Alfa's classic five-hole design alloys will be an optional extra.
Inside, black leather sports seats are standard, as is a sports steering wheel and aluminum dashboard and door trim.
Despite its sporty nature, the new model will also come with a wealth of active safety technology including emergency autonomous braking and Lane Departure Warning.
Alongside the Giulia Veloce, Alfa will also be showcasing facelifted versions of its compact hatchbacks, the Mito and Giulietta, both of which have been restyled to highlight their sporting nature and handling poise and both of which will also be getting Veloce versions.
However, one car that won't be making its debut in Paris is the Alfa Romeo Stelvio. Though in development for years, Alfa has decided against revealing its first SUV until the LA Auto Show in November. After all, one show, one model.
