Car caught being driven at high speed against traffic flow in PJ

PETALING JAYA: A car was caught on camera being driven against the flow of traffic along the Federal Highway.

A video of the incident has been making its rounds on social media, showing the car being driven at a high speed.

Deputy Petaling Jaya OCPD Supt Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood in a statement said that the incident occurred at 1.52am on Sunday (May 8) near Icon City here.

“No collision with other vehicles occurred. Investigations are underway under the Road Transport Act 1987, for reckless and dangerous driving,” he said.

In a separate case of dangerous driving, Johor police are tracking down the driver of a four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle who was caught on video overtaking dangerously over the double line in Batu Pahat.

Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Ismail Dollah said police had detected a viral video on social media where a white 4WD was seen overtaking dangerously across a double line.

"We have identified the owner of the car and at the same time, we also urge the owner and driver to come forward to have their statements recorded," he said today.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
