Confirmed — Proton car prices to go up from Feb 15

SUBANG JAYA: Prices of all Proton models will be increased from Feb 15, with the quantum ranging from RM312 to RM2,021.

Proton said in a statement that the increase was necessary because of a devalued Ringgit as a number of raw materials were bought in foreign currency.

To cushion the impact, the national car maker has also cut operational costs and streamlined operations.

Late last year, Proton had put the public on notice that it would raise prices if it could not absorb costs any longer.

For the Chinese New Year period, Proton is having a festive promotion. New car buyers could secure loans with an interest rate of 2.8%. There is also a rebate of up to RM6,200 on selected 2015 cars and 30% discount on merchandise. Under a loyalty reward scheme valid until March 31, a rebate of up to RM3,000 is given to all Proton owners who wish to replace or buy another Proton vehicle.

The car maker is also wooing graduates with a scheme that allows them to make monthly instalments from as low as RM258. It is also offering a free 30-point inspection to Proton owners at all authorised service centres during the festive period.
