Covid-19: Toyota confirms one infected, 11 more in quarantine

TOKYO: Toyota Motor Corp has confirmed that one of its employees has contracted the Covid-19 virus.

The person in question is a male full-time employee in his 20’s working as a line worker at the Japanese carmaker's Toyota City Takaoka Plant that's based in the Aichi Prefecture of Japan.

The employee reported in with a fever on March 14 and has been resting at home his since March 16.

On March 19 his fever continued prompting a test to be conducted for the COVID-19 virus, which returned positive.

Following the result, the company conducted an investigation which found 11 other individuals to have been in close contact with him.

As a safety precaution, the 11 individuals have been asked to stay home for two weeks from since having come into contact with the confirmed infected employee.

Also, the company immediately began to disinfect the affected work sites on March 19 after upon learning that the employee was suspected of being positive and resumed operation shortly afterwards.
