KUANTAN: Toll collection at all nine plazas on the East Coast Expressway Phase One (LPT1) went cashless at noon today with the full implementation of the Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) system.

The toll plazas are located at Karak, Lanchang, Temerloh, Chenor, Maran, Sri Jaya, Gambang, Kuantan and Jabor.

Concessionaire Anih Berhad executive director Datuk Nik Fauzi Nik Hussein said the full implementation of the ETC system at LPT1 was proceeding smoothly.

"There was no system breakdown or congestion on our first day. Everything is going well at all 57 lanes at the toll plazas.

"This was achieved through early preparation by the company, including holding continuous promotions and awareness programmes at the LPT1.

"Cooperation from road users have also been very good," he said after accompanying Malaysian Highway Authority director-general Datuk Ismail Md Salleh in inspecting the situation at the Karak toll plaza in Bentong here Monday.

Anih Berhad had also placed staff at the lanes to assist road users.

"Besides that, the company has installed self-service kiosks at R&R in Temerloh and Gambang for users to buy or top up their Touch 'n Go cards.

"They can also buy or top up the cards at the three customer service centres at the Karak, Temerloh and Kuantan toll plazas from 7am to 10pm daily," Nik Fauzi said.
