The Rio Sedan X’s target market is the young and trendy who are looking for a vehicle to suit their lifestyle.
It features a sporty body kit, leather seats and a multimedia infotainment system with reverse camera. The body kit comprises a front skirt, side skirt, rear skirt and rear spoiler.
The infotainment system’s technology incorporates entertainment and communication functions into a single unit. It consists of mirror link function with Android and iOS, a 7-inch LCD screen, radio/MP3/MP4/RDS, voice command function and hands-free Bluetooth function. Mirror Link allows compatible smartphones to display and control applications on-screen.
Designed to add visual width and stronger presence, KIA’s signature ‘Tiger Nose’ grille insert incorporates the now-familiar geometric pattern found on other Kia vehicles. The fog light surrounds include horizontal satin-finish bezels that house projector lenses and bulb-type daytime running lights for a more aggressive appearance and better visibility.
The interior showcases a tilt and telescopic steering wheel with audio remote control and an audio system connected to six speakers with tweeter.
The car offers 389 litre trunk space and 35% extra boot space, with rear seats that can fold 60:40 for more storage room.
The Rio's Gamma 1.4 MPI DOHC CVVT engine produces 108hp and 137Nm of torque, mated to a four-speed automatic transmission.
The motor-driven power steering is said to result in fuel savings of 3% compared to a hydraulic steering.
Safety features are six airbags, four-disc brakes, anti-lock brake system, tyre pressure monitoring system and electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, hill-start assist and rear parking sensors. The car comes standard with ISOFIX anchor points for child seats, power windows and door locks along with keyless entry.
The Rio Sedan X is available in four body colours - Bright Silver, Signal Red, Deep Blue and Clear White.
The Rio Sedan X comes with a five-year warranty with unlimited mileage.
Naza Corporation Holdings automotive group chief operating officer Datuk Samson Anand George said Naza Kia Malaysia expects to sell over 1,400 units of the Rio Sedan, contributing significantly to 2016 forecast total sales of over 6,100 units.
The new model variant is now on display at a Kia roadshow until March 27 at 1 Utama Shopping Centre, Petaling Jaya. Other models on show are the Cerato Koup, Cerato 2.0, Optima K5 and Sportage.
