KUALA LUMPUR: South East Asia's largest exhibition dedicated to commercial vehicles, the Malaysia Commercial Vehicle Expo (MCVE) 2017 will return for its third instalment this year with the theme of ‘Connected Mobility’.

Previously known as the Malaysia International Bus, Truck and Components Expo (MIBTC), the biennial event will be held at the Malaysia International Exhibition & Convention Centre (MIECC) from 18 to 20 May 2017.

This year’s MCVE will see an exhibition space of 8,000 sqm being occupied by past exhibitors as well as new ones such as Chevron Malaysia, CIMC Vehicles (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd and a range of service providers from the transportation and logistics industry.

Representatives from PKT Logistics Group Sdn Bhd and Cho Thavee Public Company Limited among others, are also slated to speak during the event.

The Association of Malaysian Hauliers (AMH) is one of the several supporting partners of this year’s MCVE.

Nazari Akhbar, president of the AMH said, “We are entering a new era of digital logistics, which is changing the way goods are delivered and with a greater demand for efficiency. We hope through the various innovations on connected mobility showcased in the expo, hauliers and fleet operators will be able to learn how they can leverage new technology to achieve fuel savings, plan routes better and increase overall efficiency of their operations”.

“Safer vehicles and roads will continue to be our key focus as the nation progresses into an age of connectivity and mobility. I am delighted to know that this area will receive strong emphasis during the expo”, said Professor Wong Shaw Voon, director general of the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS).

The MCVE will offer inclusive fringe activities for drivers and members of the Asian Trucker Drivers Club, sponsored by Volvo Trucks and Giti Tire.

The Scania Driver Competition MCVE Edition will once again return, but with tougher rules and scenarios for its third edition.

In addition to the food trucks and Scania Driver’s Lounge, this year’s MCVE will feature a Rest and Relax (R&R) area where visitors can enjoy light refreshments while having discussions with their business contacts.
