Operator files police report on alleged oil spill at KL-Karak Expressway

KUANTAN: Anih Berhad has lodged a police report over an allegation that some people had intentionally spilled oil at KM75.7 of the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Expressway (eastbound) on July 3.

The company said it was aware of several claims on social media that the oil spill had resulted in a number of accidents in the area.

"We have lodged a report at the Bentong district police headquarters on Wednesday morning to enabled detailed investigation of the allegation," said an Anih Berhad spokesman.

Anih Berhad is the operator of the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Expressway (KLK) and Phase 1 of the East Coast Expressway (LPT).

The spokesman said preliminary investigation found oil stains from an earlier accident, which took place on the same spot.

The report on the oil spill went viral on social media since July 3, with claims that it caused several cars to skid.

It was reinforced by several images of oil stains in the area. The same allegation went viral on Facebook in the middle of last year.

Anih Berhad reminded road users to comply with the speed limit.

It urged them to contact the company hotline at 09-547 9111 if they came across or had information of mischief on KLK and LPT 1.
